The disaster we faced in Kerala should serve as a wake up call to the world about the ill effects of climate change. The tragedy which took the lives of more than 200 people and displaced over 13 lakh people should make the leaders realise that we cannot take the nature for granted. This implies that why we have to come to a common consensus to turn attention towards judicial use of our resources.
According to experts, the Government needs to push its attention to to investing in Climate Research, initiate a Climate Proof Development and Strengthen Public Infrastructure to be fit in the era of a climate change. What this means, is that we have to also help to contribute towards reduction of CO2 and harmful gases that destroy the environment.
The tag of God's Own Country was something that we have taken great pride in but somewhere down the road we lost the plot with us giving precedence to rampant development rather than an inclusive and a nature friendly mode. All this needs to change as we work towards rebuilding a new Kerala.
While we conveniently put the responsibility for this on the Government, one must realise that the onus lies on each and every one of us. It first begins with our mindset, regarding issues like waste disposal, judicial use of the vehicles we flaunt and adoption of renewable energy that does not pollute the environment.
This is where we must start and this is where we at Chery's Power are here to help you. We have all had losses someway or the other during the Calamity but as we rebuild, let us ensure that we work together to make our state truly a God's Own Country with adopting practices that makes the world marvel.
